Silver Lake Camping Trip

We spent a long weekend (Thursday-unday) with our good friends, the Battenfields, camping at Silver Lake State Park! We had BEAUTIFUL weather and a very fun time! Our lot was very close to the beach right on Silver Lake, which also included a gorgeous view of the dunes. We spent a lot of time on the beach and in the lake (it was quite warm compared to Lake Michigan!), the kids rode their bikes a TON, we went on a dune ride, we climbed the dunes and watched the quads and dirtbikes go up and down the dunes, we spent a day in Pentwater and had lunch there, and we shopped around and got ice cream. Tyson us obsessed with speedboats, jet skis, and motorcycles, so he was in heaven this weekend! Watching the vehicles go up and down the dunes just amazed him! Travis and Aiden rode their 2-wheelers all over the campground (and had many crashes. Only one pedestrian was hit!). Tyson learned how to use the pedals on his bike too! Dana and Jason and the kids loved it so much that now they are looking at buying their own pop-up! (They borrowed my sister's) This is our second summer vacation with them, and I am so excited about our new annual tradition!

Girls Weekend in Chicago

We had such a fabulous time in Chicago with the girls! My mom, sister, Aunt Ann, Rylee, and I all drove to my Aunt Ruth's house for the weekend. She lives in Bartlett, a suburb of Chicago. We arrived Friday evening, and got up Saturday for a busy day. We took the train downtown, went to the American Girl store and the Disney Store, ate lunch at Navy Pier (Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.), and went to the Museum of Science and Industry. We even went to the mall for a few hours! Rylee loved it! The highlight of the trip was the "Silver Man." He was all spray-painted silver and acted like a statue. But when you put money in his pot, he started dancing like Michael Jackson! It was pretty cool! She also loved riding the escalators. Yes, the escalators! It was a great weekend and we had such a fun time! We even saw a gorgeous rainbow on the drive there!
